Algarve - Dream holiday on the south coast of Portugal

The Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal and is known for its Mediterranean beaches and golf hotels. Many of the whitewashed fishing villages above sandy bays on low cliffs made room for the future in the 1960s. Today, on the central part of the coast, between Lagos and Faro, there are villas, hotels, bars and restaurants. The Atlantic coast in the west and the rugged interior are less developed.
