Ponta do Sol (English: “sun point”) owes its name to the existence of a small rock hedge entering into the sea where the sun beams are reflected. Ponta do Sol is located directly by the sea; its pebble stone beach is very popular among the inhabitants of Madeira. The beach is inviting and quiet, without tall waves.
