506 - Quinta do Surf

This rustic farmhouse in the mountains of Odeceixe makes you feel at home right away. You wake up surrounded by nature and the sound of flowing water from our own source. We want to give you a unique experience of an eco-surf holiday in the Natural Park of the south west Algarve.

The house has one private bedroom with a double bed and two adjoining shared bedrooms, with each two single beds. We have shared bathroom facilities. There is a large living room and a relax room to read, listen to some music or to use the wi-fi internet connection. Outside there is a big terrace to enjoy the morning sun. Discover the small roads that lead into the mountains and don’t forget to pick some fresh figs or plums along the way. You’re on a holiday…Our hammocks with view into the beautiful valley make you snooze after an energetic day of surf on the beach.

The village of Odeceixeis at 15 minutes walking distance from the quinta. You pass the fields from the local farmers, where they grow corn, melons and pumpkins along the river Seixe. The land is fertile and even nowadays is prepared by hand.

Odeceixe has small handicraft and artisanal shops, traditional restaurants with fresh, grilled fish. Pizzerias with rich pasta’s, salads and homemade pizzas. An excellent German bakery and a lot of Portuguese pastelaria’s (coffee and cakes). There is an ATM machine, a pharmacy and a daily market with fresh vegetables, fruit and fish

The southwest coast of Portugal is a surfer’s paradise. The unbroken waves rolling in from the Atlantic are perfect for training surfing skills. Odeceixe Surf School provides surf lessons for Algarve Surf Holidays. The school is located on Odeceixe beach where classes are held. On the sand you find a small beach hut where the class starts and where equipment can be rented. Lessons are two times a day. The morning session starts at 11.00h (11 a.m.). The afternoon lesson is at 16.00h (4 p.m.). These are indication times as the instructors sometimes wait until the tide is in a better condition to go surfing. One session lasts 1.5 hour. Our instructors are local surfers certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation, all of whom have lifeguard licenses and a huge knowledge of the region's beaches and its conditions.

The classes are made with a maximum of 8-10 students per instructor. Instructions are given in English or Portuguese. Conditions are perfect for beginners because the sandbanks and the small waves in the white water make you feel safe and comfortable. After a few lessons you will be able to make your stand-up and you’ll be confident enough to go outside (surf in the ‘green’ water further into the sea) with your instructor.
