701a - Casa da Terça

The estate Casas da Terça is particularly rustic and typical of the region and consists of three traditional natural stone houses. The property is about 2.080 sq.m. and is located in a very beautiful and quiet area on a hillside. No more than 30 years ago, the whole estate was abandoned and the houses stood empty and forgotten as ruins. The owner has restored them and made a pretty garden in the place of the former farmland.

There is a beautiful view on the river Tabua from the house. There are several levadas in an immediate proximity. Levadas are popular footpaths along artificial irrigation canals, running through the whole island in a 2.100 km long network and leading to all places of interest. Furthermore, there is an old aqueduct nearby which leads to picturesque water mill ruins.

Casa da Terça is a two-floor holiday house. On the ground floor there is a combined living/ dining room and a kitchen-in-a-cupboard which is fully equipped with an electric stove, a microwave, a fridge, a coffee maker, a toaster etc. On the first floor there is a double bedroom, a single bedroom, as well as a bathroom with a shower. The partially antique furniture is part of classic rustic interior decorations, typical of the Madeira region.

On arrival all guests are welcomed by the owner himself. Fresh fruit, bread, tea, coffee, milk, butter, and mineral water is provided for a start. During the weekends, the owners are present on site and glad to invite you to a get-together without any obligations. The owners speak Portuguese, English and French. Twice a week, the holiday houses are cleaned and the bed linen and towels are changed. Each house has a separate terrace with a table and chairs. On the estate, there is a separate traditional kitchen, which is fully equipped and is at your disposal if you feel like preparing more sophisticated and bigger meals. The estate is located by a regional road which ends in Sítio da Ribeira.

Possible heating costs are charged extra on departure. The price is given for a stay of minimum 7 nights or more. Arrivals are possible at any day of the week. Earliest arrival time: 4 pm. Latest departure time: 12 am. Families with babies and children are particularly warmly welcome.
