216 - Casa dos Junqueiros

The house Casa dos Junqueiros is a beautiful place to spend some quality time with family and friends. It is a charming countryside villa located nearby Ericeira, the most beautiful fisherman town in the centre-west and just 30 minutes away from Lisbon city centre. Although no one would say, as if one enters the quiet landscape so suddenly.

The house has been reconstructed thirty years ago, built upon old ruins. It is a rustic place and sitting in a charming valley. It is a one ground floor house with windows all over facing the exterior and around he house there is a garden with about twenty fruit trees. Rising on the top of a hill, you can see from the house a green landscape as it drowns into the small river bellow. You can also spot some small houses belonging to farmers and other country workers.

Around everything is quiet, only to hear but the natural countryside life. A few houses surround it and there is a little village 2 km away where one can find places to buy food and a coffee shop. Nearby, 5 km away, is the well-known Praia de Ribeira d’Ilhas, a beach recognized for its surfing conditions. Here takes place once a year an international surf championship. The coast is full with smaller and larger beaches, whether one moves to the north or to the south. All of them are very close to each other. Within 8km you can find Ericeira. It is a beautiful little town sitting by the sea and so pleasant to visit and walk around with its typical fisherman’s houses, all the facilities and nice restaurants with fabulous seafood. There is also a market were one can buy fresh earth products.

The house of Junqueiros is ideal for a family with two to four children or to a six-friend group. It has:
-A large living room with a rustic fireplace, and three sitting units (one for three people and two for one person); there is a TV set with DVD player.
- A kitchen with a stove, a fridge, a dishwasher, a coffee maker and a toaster
- A dinning room that communicates with the kitchen, and opens to the terrace
- One suite bedroom with a private toilet with a shower (bed 135cm\190cm)
- A second large bedroom (bed 140cm\200cm)
- A third bedroom with a sofa bed (140cm\195cm)
- A toilet with a bathtub
- A laundry with a washing machine.

One of the most compelling features is the marvellous balcony that overlooks the valley, with an old fig tree standing just upfront. There is a wide shade and a barbecue where you can cook fresh fish and meat from Ericeira’s market and a have a terrific lunch or diner outside.

The price is calculated as the total price for the number of persons indicated above and includes the costs of electricity, gas, water, final cleaning, bed linen and towels. Possible heating costs are charged extra on departure. The price is given for a stay of minimum 7 nights or more. Arrivals are possible at any day of the week. Earliest arrival time: 4 pm. Latest departure time: 12 am. Families with babies and children are particularly warmly welcome.
