157 - Casa do Forno

The house Casa do Forno is located in the middle of the fabulous mountain range Serra da Estrela in central Portugal. It was originally a public bakery of the medieval village of Valezim, where the baker used to get the wood for the stove until 1995. His only payment was every tenth loaf of bread he baked.

The house was thoroughly renovated in 1995, and turned into a cosy holiday house with central heating, located in a nature reserve touched with impeccable beauty.

The house is located on four levels. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, on the landing a comfortable living room, and from there, going one floor up and one floor down, you enter both bedrooms and a bathroom. The house has a living area of about 60sq.m. It is ideal for people who would like to explore the quiet and relaxing surroundings on foot, by bike, or by car.

The price is calculated as the total price for the number of persons indicated above and includes the costs of electricity, gas, water, final cleaning, bed linen and towels. Possible heating costs are charged extra on departure. You may be requested to pay a 200 € deposit on arrival. The price is given for a stay of minimum 7 nights or more. During the high season (July/ August) arrivals and departures are only possible on Saturdays. Otherwise, arrivals and departures are possible at any day of the week. Earliest arrival time: 4 pm. Latest departure time: 12 am. Families with babies and children are particularly warmly welcome.
